FAQ

Where are ROC Financial Services' office locations, and where are meetings held?

Our office is located in Barnegat, New Jersey.  Meetings may also be held at the Equitable Advisors office in Toms River, New Jersey, at a client's home, or virtually, depending on what is most comfortable for the client.

This flexibility allows clients to choose the meeting setting that feels most convenient and comfortable.   Whether meeting in person or virtually, the goal is the same:  to have a clear, thoughtful conversation about the client's financial questions and overall financial picture.

What can I expect when working with Ray Offenburger and ROC Financial Services?

Working with Ray Offenburger, CFP®, CLU®, and ROC Financial Services is designed to feel educational, organized, and comfortable. For people nearing retirement, the goal is to help bring the major pieces of a retirement plan together so decisions are not made in isolation.

A retirement planning relationship may include conversations about investment risk, retirement income, tax-aware planning, beneficiary considerations, estate planning coordination, Social Security decisions, and accounts held at different institutions. Rather than looking only at investments, ROC Financial Services helps clients understand how these areas may affect one another.

This type of planning can be especially helpful for conservative investors who want to reduce uncertainty before retirement. Ray helps clients review their options, understand tradeoffs, and make decisions with the full picture in mind.

The planning relationship is meant to support the firm’s guiding philosophy: Enjoy Today. Secure Tomorrow. Leave a Legacy.

What does a Financial Planner do beyond managing investments?

A financial planner helps clients make decisions across their full financial picture, not just within an investment account. Investment management is important, but financial decisions often involve more than choosing a portfolio.

Financial planning may include income strategy, tax-aware withdrawals, account coordination, beneficiary review, Social Security decisions, estate planning coordination, cash flow needs, and how much market risk is appropriate. These areas are connected. A decision in one area can affect another.

ROC Financial Services helps clients look at those moving pieces together. This can be especially helpful for people who have managed their own investments for years but want a second set of eyes before making major financial decisions. The goal is to help clients understand their options, weigh tradeoffs, and make thoughtful decisions with more confidence.

Does ROC Financial Services need to manage every account to provide retirement planning guidance?

No. ROC Financial Services does not necessarily need to manage every account in order to provide financial advice. A good financial plan should start with understanding the full situation, not immediately moving accounts.

ROC Financial Services can help clients review accounts held at other institutions and consider how those accounts fit into their overall financial picture. That may include investment risk, retirement income needs, taxes, beneficiaries, and long-term goals.

Accurate information is important for a complete planning conversation. Even when ROC Financial Services does not directly manage every account, understanding how those accounts work together can help Ray Offenburger provide more thoughtful and coordinated guidance.

How much does it cost to work with ROC Financial Services?

The cost depends on the client’s situation and the type of help needed. Some people are looking for a retirement income plan, some need help coordinating scattered accounts, and others want ongoing guidance as financial decisions come up.

In a first conversation, ROC Financial Services would talk through what the client is trying to accomplish, what kind of planning support may be appropriate, and how fees or compensation would work before any decision is made. The goal is for the client to understand the process clearly and feel comfortable with the next step.

Who tends to benefit most from working with ROC Financial Services?

ROC Financial Services is generally best suited for people who value education, conversation, and thoughtful decision-making. The process is designed for clients who want to understand their options before moving forward.

ROC Financial Services tends to be a good fit for people who are nearing retirement, recently retired, or trying to make important financial decisions with more clarity. Many clients are conservative investors who want guidance before making decisions about income, investments, taxes, account coordination, or legacy planning.

The firm may be especially helpful for people who have saved carefully but are unsure whether their accounts are working together. Some may have old retirement plans, IRAs, brokerage accounts, pensions, bank accounts, or insurance and estate planning pieces that were accumulated over time but never reviewed as one coordinated plan.

Why is tax-aware financial planning important?

Taxes can change significantly over time. Many people assume retirement will automatically mean lower taxes, but that is not always the case. Withdrawals from retirement accounts, Social Security taxation, required minimum distributions, investment income, and Medicare-related income thresholds can all affect the overall picture.

Tax-aware retirement planning looks at how decisions today may affect taxes later. For example, the timing of withdrawals, the order of accounts used for income, and the mix of taxable, tax-deferred, and tax-free assets can all matter.

ROC Financial Services helps clients think through these issues as part of the broader retirement plan. The goal is not to look at taxes by themselves, but to understand how tax decisions connect with income, investments, estate considerations, and long-term financial confidence.
